HUNTLY.

—, «. CiticKKr.—As tntiniiitcd in my lint, one outcome of the Saturday half-holiday here ha* been the formation of a cricket club called the Sunth-Knd CO., and judging by the amount of enthusiasm and interest displayed bv the members it seems to be a "live " affair. At a meeting held on the gronnd on Saturday week the name was decided upon, after which the following officers were appointed :—Mr J. McDonald (our new station-master), captain ; Mr M. A. Dorricott, vice-captain; and Mr T. N. Peek, secretary and treasurer. Confirm\tion Ckrkmojjv.—We wera favoured on Sunday with a biennial Episcopal visitation, the purpose of the Bishop's visit being to administer the rite of Confirmation to about eight candidates, male and female, prepared by the Ttev. Haselden. The service (or the Bishop) evidently proved a " draw," for the room in the public school where the service was held, was filled to suffocation, many having to stand in the lobby. The circumstance must have deeply impressed those interested with the necessity of hurrying on the erection of the proposed Anglican Church. An appeal was made to the congregation (by letter from the Bishop) for monetary assistance toward the Native Pastorate Fund, which is devotod to the payment of Maori clergymen labouring among their own people, a few such being required for the country south of Waikato which at present, only enjoy the blessings resulting from sly-grog selling, race meetings, and .\n occasional visit of the tntalisator.
