ABIGAIL SENTENCED.

(BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH — COI'VRIGIIT), Sydney, November Is the Australian Banking Company conspiracy cases, Judge "Wmdeyer summed up against the jn-isoners, Francis Abigail (the managing director) and Roderick McNamara (lato manager). The- jury acquitted Messrs Salem and Twist, the accountants of the company, but found Abigail and McNamara guilty. Abigail protested his innocence, and declared that he was not conscious that he had done anything to r'ofraud any man. MoNamara also declared his innocence.

His Honor, who apparently was much affected, said he had no doubt that the conclusion ariived at by the jury was correct, and he regretted he could not think that Abigail's fraud was a momentary lapse, but that it was continued over a number of years, though he admitted that he had been the dupe of more wicked men. Abisrail was sentenced to live years' and McNamara to seven years' hard labour. Further charges against the accused have yet to be heard.
