The Waikato Times Office, Friday. WAIKATO MARKETS. Mb J. McNicol RKPOHTS.-Ab.mt 220 horses entered and although some sold at exceptionally good prices, others were low, but on the wholn the sale whs dull and of a draggine nature, prices being lower than at my previous horse fair. Horses Hold better as the sale advanced, however, and towards evening they were selling freely and at good prices. The pair ot geldings that took first prize at yesterday's show, for the class fur over 15'2 bugf,y horses made £60, and the handsome draught gelding from the New Zealand Land Association that took first prize as a heavy draught, made £39; other draught horses brought from £14 to £24; upstanding harness horses and good hacks brought from £15 to £24; lighb hacks, £0 to £11; medium draughts and tramway horses, £7 10* to €13 10s; ponies and weeds from 30s upwards. Une hundred and seven sold.
AUCKLAND LIVE STOCK MARKET.
MESSRS A. BCOKLAND AND SONS' REPORT.—At the Haymarket during the past week meadow hay ranged from 4s to" 4s 9d ; oaten sheaves 4s to 4s 6d the cwt; chaff, £5; potatoes, 45s ; bonedust, £5 10s to £7 the ton ; oats, 2s (id to 2s 9d ; maize, Is 7d to 2s 9d the bushel; woolpacks and sheep dip in brisk demand. On Friday horses, yarded in full number, kept late values. 'Useful stock ranged from £8 to £14 each. On Tuesday hides, abundant, were at low values ; heavy ox reached 4jd, medium 3d, light ox and cow ljd to 2Jd ; calfskins, 3d to 4d the lb. Sheepskins kept late values. Fresh skins ranged from 3s Gd to 03, dry skins Is to 4s ; pelts, b'd to 7d ; lambskins, 9d to Is each; locks, Id to 4d the lb. The cattle fair on Wednesday was numerously attended ; between 800 and 900 sold. Prices were higher at conclusion than beginning of sale. At Remuera, on Thursday, dairy cattle were dull of sale, unless of choice quality. Those were freely competed for up to £610s each. Few store cattle yarded; those were required. Fat cattle yarded more numerously than last week ; 190 sold, but several pens were of moderate quality only. Prices, more irregular than last week, ranged from 24s to 27s per lOOlbs. Fat calves abundant; 69 sold kept their values, and were highest at the conclusion of sale. Fat sheep in moderate supply; 860 yarded were at last week's values. Shorn wethers ranged from 103 9d to 14s ; shorn hoggets, 8s 9d to 10s 6d ; shorn ewes, lis to lis 9d ; hoggets in their wool, 13s Cd to 15s. Fat lambs plentiful—2Go sold; were required, and brought from 7s 6d to 13s each. Pigs of medium size were more numerous than for some weeks, but were required, and higher values obtained; medium-sized porkers ranged from 18s to 27s each. '
Messrs Hunter and Nolan's Weekly Report.—Grain, seeds, horsefeed, etc.: The demand has not been quite so brisk except for first-class samples of maize. Prices have no upward tendaney. We quote: Maize, 2s 5d to 2s 8d per bushel; oats, 2s 7d to 2s 9d ; bran, £4 per ton ; oaten chaff, £3 to £4 per ton. Horses: Again a good many have been brought forward and disposed of at the previous week's tallies. There was a large number sub> mitted by auction at the Durham Yards on Friday. There was good competition, and only a few weeds remained unsold, and there exists an active demand for those of a good stamp, We quote: Heavy draught, from £117s 6d to £2010s; light harness and medium draught, from £6 to £18; hacks, from £4 10s to £10. A mob of medium draught colts and fillies sold at from £0 5s to £24. Wool, hides, skins, tallow, bones : Again rather large quantities were pitched at the Durham Yards on Tuesday. Competition was steady. We quote: Stout nx, 4d to 4M per lb ; medium, 3d to 3|d ; steer and cow, ljd to 2Jd ; damaged. Id to lgd ; calfskins, 3d to 4Jd ; tallow. 15s to 18s Gd per cwt; bones, £4 103 to £41256 d per ton; sheepskins, 2s Sd to 5s Gd; country, 8d to 3s 6d eaoh. Wool, 5Jd to 6Jd per lb. Cattle: A good many stores and an average number of dairy and fat stock wure brought farward. A good many buyers were in owing to the flush of grass. There was a little upward tendency in the price of stores and tat beasts as compared with the previous week, dairies were without alteration, Thero was not nearly so large a muster at the special sale of store cattle at Newmarket on Monday as on the previous month ; values fluctuated considerably, and the average of prices was a shade lower. Calves sold at from 16s to £1 7s 6d ; yearlings, £1 3s to £2; eighteen-months-okl steers, £2 to £2 12s Gd ; two-year-old steers, £3 5s ; heifers, £110s to £2 15s; dry cows, £116s to £3 10s; grown steeis, £3 lis to £6 ss. The yards were well filled at the regular sale on Tuesday, and prices for all descriptions were rather in favour of the vendor. Beef ranged from 22s to 27s per 1001b, Some averages of fat steers were:— £10 0s 9d, £9 9s 9d, £9 5s fid, £8 13s. £8 3s 3d, £7 3s 3d; cows, £8 10s, £C 10-, £C 2s 6d, £5 10s, £5 Ss 6d. Sheep were penned in moderate numbers, and sold at from Is 9d to 2s per 81b; wethers sold at from 13s to IC9 9d each; shorn, from 12s to 14s 3d ; ewes in wool, 9s Gd to 14s 6d ; lambs, 7s 3d to 14s Gd. Pigs were more plentiful, and sold at from 2|d to 3d live weight; small pigs, 8s to 14s 9d each.

Hides: Stunt ox, 4.Jri to ; medium. 3d to 4d ; light, 2Jd to 2Jd ; kip, 2d ; calfskins, heavy, -ljd ; cow, heavy and good conditioned. 2£d to 2§d ; light and medium, 2d to 2Jd. Sheepskins ; Lonifwools, medium to large, 4s to Ss ; extra large, Cs ; small and damaged, Is to 3s 9d ; half-breds, 3s to 4s 2d. Fat, l}d per lb. AUCKLAND PRODUCE MARKETS. (BY TELKGBAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.) Auckland, Lai-t Night.—ln the local produce mirkef the prices remain un changed. Both fresh butter and eggt. are coining in plentifully. Best dairy butler, 7d ; Becond quality.Gd • and third quality, 5d per lb wholesale. Eggs are (id per dozen wholosale, and 7d to 8d per dozen retail. Oats firm. Stocks low, no alteration in prices from lusC week's quotation*. Potatoes, 453 to 50s.
