A cable message has been received by tho secretary of the society from Sydney offering to send over for exhibition at the forthcoming show tho Silver patent shearing machines. The offer has been accepted, an 1 therefore the two shearing machines will be on view at the show, viz. : The Worsley and the Silver.

A meeting of shopkeepers to consider tho half-holid'iy question wii< unable to arrive nt an agreement re tho day. The Karangahape shopkeepers favour Wednesday, and Quoen-~<tn>et prefer Saturday, but probably the latter will necept Wednesday to prevent tho trade drifting to the suburbs.
