At a meeting nf tlio Incentive Committee of the Agricultural Society to-day it was announc-d that the secretary had received a great many entries of priz" stuck wliich won; successful at tlio Wuikalo show, so that considerably more competition is expected in several of the chisses than was before anticipated. Mr Gordon, of Woodlands made no less than fourteen entries, which wove probably obtained by the fact that the secretary ami the members of tho AucklandSocii ty were present a' the Waikato show and pointed out to Waikato breeders tho advisability of showing Jit Epsom. A cable message has been received by tho secretary of the society from Sydney offering to send over for exhibition at the forthcoming show tho Silver patent shearing machines. The offer has been accepted, an 1 therefore the two shearing machines will be on view at the show, viz. : The Worsley and the Silver.

A meeting of shopkeepers to consider tho half-holid'iy question wii< unable to arrive nt an agreement re tho day. The Karangahape shopkeepers favour Wednesday, and Quoen-~<tn>et prefer Saturday, but probably the latter will necept Wednesday to prevent tho trade drifting to the suburbs.
