ENCOURAGE LOCAL INDUSTRIES

Tilk Auckland Furniture Company, Wel-lesley-street East, is developing a laive industry in tlie manufacture of furniture. At their furniture factory, in Stanleystreet, there is one of the most complete steam plants in New Zt-a'aaid, where machinery and all appliances for manufacturing purposes is owned by the company, thus enabling it to sustain the reputation it has acquired for Hrst-clas* work. We notice that a new store is being erected for storage purposes, the increasing trade requiring more room. The showrooms in the three-storeyed warehouse, Wollesleystreet, are verj extensive, and have necessitated the issue of an illustrated catalogue and price list, for the convenience of the trade and customers. This, we are informed, has been caused by tho greatly increased prosperity of the country districts, the purchasing power being increased, has caused a greater demand for the company's goods, and settlers desire to be supplied with designs and prices, without the cost of a visit to town. The stock held by the Auckland Furniture Company is very large and varied, and all being lately manufactured or imported, is of the latest designs and of iirst-rate quality, the company aiming at supplying everything of the best quality at the lowest rates. The illustrated catalogue was exected at the lithographic works of the Herald printing establishment, and is one of the best and most complete of its kind ever produced in the colony, the illustrations being a work of art and equal to anything produced by the best houses in Britain. The company will, on applicition, forward one free.
