PUKEKURA ROAD BOARD.

The above Board met in the l'likerimu school, on Monday last, at 3.30 p.m. Present : Messrs H. Buttle (chairman), R. Reynolds, J. Anderson and R. W. Mears. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed.

Gkavkl.—Mr R. Morse wrote asking permission to get a few loads of gravel from the Board's pit, for concreting.—Granted. Furze.—Mr Thos. Vickers requested that the furze in Moore-street, should be cut, as it endangered his property.—The Secretary was instructed to notify the owners of property in Moore-street, that they must clear the street of furze at once. The Flax-mill.--Mr Philip Cooper wrote asking that a portion of Addisonstreet, should be repaired, as at present it was iv difficult matter to get flax carted along it to his mill, also asking permission to fence across Lot 29 and King-dey-street. —Mr Anderson was authorised to got the Addison-street repaired, but the Board declined to allow the fencing asked for. Nohbish's Road.—Messrs Kusabs, Morrison and others wrote complaining that the road known as Norrish's was almost impassable.—This matter was deferred till next meeting. An Awkward Corner. —Mr John Bridgman wrote complaining that a corner of the road near his property, at Pukekura, needed altering.—This matter will be attended to. Stationery.—Mr McCullough wrote asking to have a share of the Board's printing. --"ItiGCGi Vfid, Gate on thf. Road.—Mr Bridgman wrote complaining that a gate had been erected, by Mr Win. Vosper, across the road without having asked his (Mr Bridgmaivs) consent. If bis consent, had been asked he should have refused for the following reasons Firstly : That it is his fence on each side of the road, and secondly that it forms a stock yaid for drafting cattle, used both by Europeans and Maons, causing loss and annoyance by cattle and horses breaking his fence and getting into his paddocks.—lt was resolved that Mr Vosper receive notice to remove the gate and fence within 14 days. Subsidies.—A circular was received from the Awatere Road Board re the withdrawal of G-overnment subsidies. A petition against the withdrawal was enclosed. —The chairman was authorised to sign it on behalf of the Board.

Audit. —The balance sheet for the year ended March Slst last, was received from the Auditor-Geueral, duly certified to as correct. Guiiiiixs' Road. —Attention was drawn to the stats of this road nt Ohaupo. About 20 chains of it needed gravelling, the traffic on that porti:m being very heavy.—Deferred till better weather. Contracts.—A suggestion was made that the principal r oads in the district should be repaired by contract, but the matter was not definitely settled. Furze Notices —The Secretary was instructed to get notices to clear furze printed and to serve the same, also to advertise the notice. Finance. —The Treasurer reported a credit balance at date of £141 Us 3d. _ Accounts amounting to £23 (is 5(1 were passed for payment and the Board then rose.
