General ZanofF, in his report to the Ameer, complains that the Afghans refused to treat him amicably, but opened lire on his expedition. The Ameer is appealing for English aid against the Russian intrusion. General Z inofFs expedition numbers two thousand men, with twelve guns, and a position has been taken up at Aliehur. Another Russian force is stationed at Kalawanj, on the bank of the River Oxus. Paris, Angust 2:5. The St. Petersburg correspondent of Le Sfoleil alleges that the Indian Government is supplying rifles to the Ameer's troops.
