H.M.S. PINAFORE.
Tub dress rehearsal of this opera iook place on Thursday night. We withhold % full critique till after the first performance on Saturday, but we cannot refrain from saying a word in praise of the splendid style in which the piece is staged. The management have fully performed their promise, and neither trouble, skill nor money has been spared to put the opera on the stage in the most perfect manner, and the result is a performance that will surprise and delight all who see it. The set scene showing the deck of a man-o'-war is most effective and perfect in every detail, whilst the dresses are simply splendid, and the effect of colour and music when the whole company is massed en the stage in the final chorus is such as work up the most apathetic of spectators to enthusiasm. Inat the performance will be a great success is already assured, and we trust that the receipts will be such as to recoup the great outlay that must have been incurred. We strongly advise our readers to go to the first performance, for those who go once will go again.
