The Waikato Tunis Ofict, Friday. WAIKATO MARKETS. Mr W. J. Hontbb Rkpobm.—At Ohaupo, on Tuesday, August Kith, Hipre was a large muster of both citf.le and aheep, buyer* were in attendance for all classes, and with exception of one pen of course nteurs all sold. Young cattle were in great request and sold readily, a large number nf fat cattle Bold well, duiry cows were required and sold freely. Prices wore :—Dairy cows, £4 to £5; backward springers, £3 fr> £4 10$: weaned calves, mixed sexes, £110 ato £119s; Btoer calves, £1 19* to £2 7«; heifer calves, £1 10s to £1 Ins ; three-year-old steers, JE4 lie to £5 3»; one and a-half-year-old steers. well-bred, £3 to £3 2s 6d ; store cows, £2 to £3 89 6d; fat cows and heifers, £4 to. £5 10s. Long-wool hoggets, 10a 3d; cross-, bred do., 7s 6d. At Hamilton, on Thursday, August 18th, the yards were full of cattle of all classes, buyers were in attendance and good prices realised, being fully high as Ohaupo. A large number of dairy cows sold readily. Prices were:—Small calves, 19s to 245; weaned calves, £1 16s to £1 19s; three-year-old steers, £4 10s; fat cows and heifere, £3 11« to £4 lie; fat steers, £7 5s to £7 10a; dairy, cows at calving, £4 10s to £5; backward springs, £3 10s to £4; one to ono and a-half-year-old heifers, £114s to £116s. Fat sheep, mixed Boxes, 13s. A large number of horses, principally draughts ot a good stamp eold readily and made from £13 15s to £16 10a ; active medium draughts, £6 to £122s 6d. I have also sold privately 200 three-quarter-bred hoggets, 10a Gd ; 80 shorn hoggetts, 7s 9d ; aho a large number of young cattle at good prices.

AUCKLAND LIVE STOCK MARKETS. ■ Messrs A. Buckland and Sons' RβrouT. —At the Haymarket during the past week loose bound fodder has ranged from 3a to 4s the cwt; maize, forwarded in increased luantity, has kept it values and brought 2s Ud and 2a 7d ; oats, 2s ta 2a 6d the bushel: potatoes, 45s ; chaff, £3 10s the ton. On Friday, howe stock, brought forward in less number than usual, were better worth ;. prices for useful animals ranged from £S to £18 each. On Tuesday, hides in usual supply, were without alteration in values ; heavy ox brought from 4§d tos|d; medium, 3d to 3jd ; light ox and cow, l£d to 2£d ; calfskins, 4jd to oid the lb ; bones, 4s 9d the cwt; fresh skins, 3a to sa; dry skins, la to 3s aach. At the country cattle sales, held atPokeno and Drury, store stock of,all clnsaea has been keenly competed for at advanced values, and dairy cows continue in request at full values. At Remuera, on Thursday, few dairy cow yarded ; those wsre in request at an advance over late values ; store cattle in moderate numbers, sold at higher values than hitherto ; calves in . usual supply, 51 sold at last week's prices. Fat cattle in average number, 22(i Ruld, were Hteady at last week'* quotations, 21s to 23s the 1001b. Sheep in moderate supply, 840 sold, kept last week's values; hoggelts brought from 9s to 10s; longwoolled wethers, 14s to 17s 9d ; half-bred wethers, 10a 9d to 13a ; ewes, 10a to 12a Bd each. Pigs short of requirement, sold at higher values than usual. M.KSSR3 HONTKR AND NOLAN'S WeBKLV Report.—Grain, horse-feed, seeds, fcc. : i The supply has been fairly good, and demand steady. We quote : Oats, 2s (id per bushel J maize, on wharf, 2s Gd ; ex store. 2s Sd ; bran, £5 per ton ; oaten chaff, £3 10a to £3 15s pur ton ; ryegrass, Poverty Bay, Ga Gd ; Canterbury and local, 4s to 5a ; cocksfoot, Gs fid to 7s. Horses : The demand has continued brisk, particularly for young medium find heavy draught, and a shade higher values have been obtained. At the auction sales at the Durham Yards on Friday an increased number were submitted, and bidding was brisk throughout the cale. We quote : Medium to heavy draught ranged from £13 to £21 ; aged of this claea, from £6 10s to £10 10a ; hacks and light harness, £4 10s to £15 10a ; weeds, lGs to 50s. Wool, hides, skins, tallow, bones, &c. : Average quantities were disposed of at the Durham Yards on Tuesday, at little or no alteration in values. We quote : Stout ox hides, 4d to 5d per lb; medium, 3d to Sj|d ; steer and cow, l£d to 2£d ; kips, 2Jd to 3d ; calfskins, 3d to 4|d ; tallow. 10s Gd to 18a per cwt; bones, £4 10a to £4 15s per ton; sheepskins, 2a 3d to 5a each ; country skins, 10d to 4a 4d. Cattle : There has scarcely been any alteration in value during the week. About the usunl number of fat boasts were disposed of, and les3 than usual of store and dairy stock. An inc»«ased number was yardori at Newmarket of fat stock, but few'dairy, and of inferior description, £5 being the highest price obtained. Stores scarce, but in brisk demand. Competition for beef was brisk at fram 203 to 24s per 1001b. Well-fatted small cattle sold relatively the higher, but a truck of good heavy oxen averaged £910s 6d. Some averages of steers were £9 Is sd, £8 18s 4d, £S 14s 2d, £7 loa lOd, £7 12a Gd, £7 8s 4d, £7 Is Sd ; cows, £« 10,-., £5 12a Gd, £5 10a, £5 ss, £5 Gs, £1 17s Gd, £4 12s Gd. Sheep were again penned in moderate number*, and barely maintained the previcus week's values. Wethers sold at from. 12s Gd to 19a each; ewes, 12s to 15a 3d. Pigs scarce, and in good demand at from 2.W to 3d per lb. live weight, varying from 14s to £2 7s.
