THE BOOZERS , BOTTLE.
Ti) \\ little pub. of a lonely town, The bush fullers, cowboys and all come down. And quaff Schiedam till the morning gray, Till their eves swell up iitid their knees gi»e way, And when they are pretty well gone, I. ween The boozers' bottle ndoros the Rcene. The boozers' bottle ! oh I could tell How many that bottle has saved from— well' The lively jumps and the " fan tods " qneer Or a bath in the mer th:it tuns so near ; The boozer's bottle—nay m> alarm, Contains but water and that won't harm. One day when boozers were at their best, And the boozers' bottle in great request, i A mighty squatter rode into the town, His feature* with heat uud dust were brown, And he sail!, as he buwed to the barmaid sswuet, "I'll talco some ' battle axu, , please, and neat. A jocular Rent near the bar did stand, Wiio transposed the bottles with nimble hand, The barmaid poured out what she thought P. 8., 13nt it was the boozer's boozs y»u see, And the squatter he drank with an awful face, A liorrible, terrible, wry grimace. The squatter ho stamped, and the squatter swore, And he east the bottle from out the door; And lie throw the glass from his trembling hand, And he used more oathe than a German band, And the boozers looked on in devilish dee, y<»r that was the end of. their bottle you see. And since that day to this lonely town That mighty sqnatter no more comes down, And the boozers now from their woes set free Drink nothing but pure O.K. P. 8., For sinco it flew from the pub.'s dark door, The boozers' bottle was seen no more. HOMIU.
