ELECTROCUTION.

Angtfcer execution bv electricity, as provided by the law of New York State, took place on Wednesday in Auburn prison wherß the shocking experiments on Kemmler were made. A man named Tice, who murdered his wife, was executed, and the operation was the most successful since electricity was employed. The force of.the current was one thousand seven hundred and twenty volts. For fifteen seconds the current was applied, and when it was turned off the body sank back from its straightened position. During , the three seconds the current remained off ,uot a quiver of the lips or move of the fingers occurred. Then the doctor signalled, and again the body stiffened up as the current struck it. After fifteen seconds the current was switched off for five seconds again. The body then collapsed, but there was not the faintest sound, and no discharge from the month. Ten seconds more of the contact were then followed by an interval of five seconds, and ten more of contact, the viotim being in the chair one minute and three seconds. Two phcsiciana then felt the wrists and arteries of the neck, and declared that there was no pulse, the man being dead. When the face was uncovered it showed the same appearance as in life. Death is believed to have resulted from the first contact.
