(BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH.—COfYRIQHT). Sydney, August 12. Sir H. Parkes, addressing his constituents, said he was determined to keep Federation in tho fore front of Australian politics. He condemned the importation of Coolies, and advocated the establishment of irrigation colonies as a remedy tor the want of employment. The Sydney Morning Herald thinks that tho proposal of the New Zealand Government to demand cash securities from foreign Insurance Companies will be likely to lead to reprisals on the part of the other colonies. The Broken Hill strikers are drawing £15,000 worth of supplies weekly. The leaders assert that they have sufficient to carry on for three or four months, even if they received no further assistance. Hobaj.it, August 12. The Government were defeated on their financial policy by four votes, and the House adjourned till Tuesday. Buisbane : August 12. Tho defeat of the Constitution Bill, so far ms the selling up of the central province is concerned, is causing some excitement at Rockhampton. The crowd burned the leading members who opposed the Bill in effigy.
