Cat,tin prices were : Calves, mixed sexes, 32s (id tn 3<is ; yearling steers t'2 to ±!2 2s ; fresh empty cows, £2 1"h t-> t'3 ; fat heifers, £3 7 s tn t'-'i 2s ; cmvs. £4 tn £!) ; dairy cows, C 3 10< tn £">. I have also sold privately, 20 rising three-year-old steers, £3 14s ; about (iO head beef cattle at from £4 12s lid to £o 5s for cows and heifers, to £7 fir steers ; also, 200 shorn hoggets, 7s each. AUCKLAND LIVE STOCK MARKETS. Messrs A. Bltkland ani; Sons' Rkport.—At the Haymarket during the past week, handbound fodder has ranged from 2s !)d to 3s !ld the cwt. Grain has hardened in price. Feed oats are from 2s 3d to 2s 5d ; Dnn oats, 2s 8d ; maize, 2s fid ; ryegrass, 4s 3J ; cocksfoot, 5s 91 the bushel; carrots, 25s ; potatoes, 45s ; chaff, £3 10s ; bonodust, £7 the ton. On Friday, horses of fair to good quality were in request. Prices for farm stock ranged from £10 to £14 each. A phteton, horse and harness brought. £22 10s; the draught stallion Rhoderick Dim, £30. On Tuesday, hides and skins wore in larger quantity than usual, and sold freely at fully late values. Stout ox hrought fr mi 4Jd to ojd ; medium, 3d to 3Jd ; cow and light ox, ljd to 2£d tho lb. Tallow, 17s Gd to lfls Od ; bones, 4s (id the cwt; loose fat, ljd the lb. Fresh skins, 3s to 4s lOd ; dry skins, Is to 3s 9d each. At Remueta, on Thursday, the dairy stock yarded were of medium quality only. Prices ranged from £3 10s to £5 los each. Fat cattle, in average number: 230 sold. Prices firm, and for steeis were not less than 22s the 1001b. CalTes scarce, and prices high. Sheep, in average number; 1000 sold. Prices firm at last week's values. Hoggets brought from Gs to 7s 9d ; half-bred wethers, lis to 13s li'l j longwooled wethers, 13s to 17s Gd ; crossbred ewes, 0s 3d to 12s !)d ; and a. crossbred wether, of unusual size, 2fls sd. Pigs, in usual number, were better worth throughout the sale, particularly well-bred store pigs. Mkssrs lluntkr and Nolan's Rbpokt.— Grain, seeds, horse feed, etc. : Stocks have been light, and barely sufficient for requirements. Maize advanced in value. We quote Oats, 2s 3d to 2s Gd per bushel; maize on wharf, 2s Gd, ex store 2s 8d ; bran, £4 15s to £5 per ton; chatf, £3 to £315s per ton. Horses have heen in improved demand, but the supply has been short, and there has toen an upward tendency in value. An average number was entered at the Durham Yards on Friday. Competition was good throughout tho sale, and almost without exception lots were cleared. We quote:—Hacks, from £4 10s to £13 ; medium draught and light harness, from £5 10s to £13 10s; aged heavy draught, £!) 10s to £12 ; young horses, £12 10s to £21. Wool, hides, skins, etc. Increased quantities were pitched at the Durham Yards ftn Tuesday, and competitiiin was unusually brisk. We quote: Strong ox hides, 4d to 4Jd per lb ; medium, 3d to 3id ; steer and cow, lid to 3d ; calfskins, 3id to por Hi. Ernies, £4 15s to £5 per ton. Tallow, £17 to £1S 10s per ton. Sheepskins : Local, 2s lid to 4s 10d each ; country, Is to 3s 4<l each. Wool: ITleece, (i.|d ; pieces, 3jd. Cattle: The number brought forward has been an average one in'dairy and fat stocks, but scarcely so in stores. There has been a downward tendency in value of dairies, but other descriptions maintain their value. Barely average numbers were yarded at Newmarket on Tuesday, but there were a good number at Papakura on Wednesday, and sales were readily effected at the previous week's prices, at from 20s to 24s per 1001b. Some averages of steers were £S 12s, £8 8s fld, £8 9s, £7 15s lOd, £7 12s 01, £7 ss, £G ISs £(i 10s, £5 12s ; cows, £6 10?, £5 Is, £4 12s !M, £4, £3 18s. Sheep were well represented at Newmarket on Tuesday, and the average prices were quite up to the previous week's, but values fluctuated n good deal. Wethers sold from lis Gd to 18s 9d ; ewes, lis to 14s (>d ; mixed s.'xes, 17s to 18s !)d. Pigs scarce, from £1 10s to £1 17s each, about 3d per lb live weight. . AUCKLAND PRODUCE MARKETS. (BY TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT.) Aucklnd. Last Night. —In the local produce market batter is becoming more plentiful, and prices have gone down. Prices now are—best dairy butter, Is ; second quality, 10J : and third quality, 9d per lb wholesale. Eggs remain unchanged at lOd per dozen wholesale, and Is per dozen retail. Cheese, still source, 5.V1 to Gd ; bacon, Gd to (iid ; hams, Gd to 7d ; petatues, £2 10s to £2 15s. CHRISTCHURCH LIVE STOCK MARKETS. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company report under dale : — Chkistchdrch. July 20 — Store Sheep: The yarding was a very limited one. About 2000 in nil (in three or four lots) constituted the entry, of which 700 small two and fourtooth i-i-iiss-lireris was the principal one. The a', tendance was less than usual, but "included buyers for a great many more than were offered. The 700 twi and four-tooths mentioned above brought 13s Gd, and a f,rii •' 1 lot of cross-bred ewes in lamb tnade lii.'.M. —Fat Sheep: Prime heavy weight cross-bred wethers bronsht 21s to 235, medium do 18s (i l tn2o->, light do losjio 17s (id, merino wethers prime, 13s to 15s, inferior do 9s t > Us (id; cross-bred ewes, 12s to 17s,— FatCattl-i: A moderate supply of beef was penned, the quality on the whole being fair. Competition was good and latt week's prices were well maintained, prime ox and heifer beef bringing 20* to 21s per 1001b, cows 14s to 17s per lOOlbs. Best steei-s brought £0 10s to £!)-", and £12 for an extn heavy weight beast, heifers £410s to £G 10s, and cows £4 to £7 2s (id.—Store Cattle : Tne weather azain militated greatly against business in this department, and little of import nice was done. Dry c iws formed the bulk of the entry, and sold at prices ranging from £2 to £-t 7s Gd.
