« (by electric; tei,k<;kani.— copyright) London, August 1. Great consternation has been caused by the report of Gladstone's illness. Flo passed a goodnight and is improving. The papers ropresent his indisposition as tho rosult of a chill. Later. i\lr Gladstone is better, but will require care for some time. He hits summoned his party to attend a meeting on Thursday. August 2. Mr Gladstone passed a good night. There is considerable excitement in Douglas, the chief town of the Isle of Man, owing to a report that Mr Gladstone proposes, under his Home Jtule system, to annex the Isle to Ireland.
