HAMILTON LIGHT INFANTRY.
The first of the special parades called by advertisement for this week was held on Monday evening. There was an exceptionally good muster, over forty of all r inks being on parade, Capt. Reid was in command, Lieut Dyer being also present. The manual and firing exercises were gone through in a clean and smart manner and several company formations also practised. Messrs R. Dillicar and J. Calderwood were duly elected as members of the corps and Messrs Kirk and Smith proposed fo» membership. At a meeting of the shooting committee held subsequently the conditions for the competition fortlie company's belt and the medal presented by Mr Howden were arranged, and these, will be made known to the men at drill this evening. The match takes place on Saturday afternoon next, at half-past one o'clock. The second of the special parades will take place this evening, at 8 o'clock, at which Capt. Reid desires a good and punctual attendance.
