THAT FACTORY BELL
TO THE EDITOR. Sin, —Your correspondent " Enquirer " takes the liberty to insult a most useful bit of furniture that perhaps disturbs his fortywinks. I must inform " Enquirer " all the patiante ure highly pleased that Dr. Kenny is so thoughtful to have had that noisy article to be erected to the great disgust of "Co." and his friends. The ladiespatients I mean—immensely appreciate the little object that has caused eo much " How do-you-do." Rumour states —one lady comically remarks: "That bell gives warning to have all teeth sharpened,' also " the time to end conversation and rest in peaceful slumbers," and it so happens that it cheers the weary feverish patient, who perhaps feels inclined to sleep (vide Co.'s letter). Lastly if Dr. Kenny imagined for one instant the (hideous) ringing of the belj would disturb any oae patient, " Enquirer " might safely bet his bottom dollar that that factory bell would cease to jingle its sweet sounds ever more, —I am, etc. Patient.
P.S.—Kindly calculate the death rate between the so-called factory bell and that hideous deadly noise of the great Hamilton flax-mill.
