FLOODS AT GISBORNE.

The heavies? flood experienced here fursi.xfoen years occurred to-day, owing to the heavy rains on Saturday nigfht and yesterday. : The hamesteads of many settlers were surrounded by water whilst several hail to leave their dwellings. At Wuipawa the river overflowed its banks and thousands of acres wero under water. Considerable bss of stock has occurred ami culverts have Loon carried away, but no loss of life is reported. It in still raining and it is feared the worst is not over.
