AUCKLAND NEWS.
(BY TELE3RAPH.—OWN OnRHESPO.N'DKXr.) Auckland, Last Night. At the of the Board of Education to-day. Mr Harrison applied for reinstatement to the. Bfiresford-street School. The application was supporter! by a petition from tho Educational Institute; but the B'lU'il decided not to re-open the case.
At tin Supreme Court to day, the Judge ordered that tho affairs of Alexander, solicitor, be handed to the Official Assignee for administration.
The Executive Committee of the Board of Education, in their ropoit, stated that I wiving considered the memorial from the Wiiikafo fjchnol Committees regarding holidays, recommend that the Board should ad herd to us regulation on the subjuct, it being understood that the committees may at their discretion alter the dates at which the holidays begin aud end in their respective schools. The recommendation of tho Executive Committee was adopted.—A circular was received from the Minister of Education, containing a revised list of classbooks, and stating that a number of books which were only used by the Auckland Board had been left out of the list. The circular stated that these books could be authorised if the Board desired it. It was resolved, on tho motion of Mr Grant, that the Globe Readers and Mackay's Arithmetic be sanctioned till the end of this year only.
