Thf Waikato Times Office, Monday. AUCKLAND PRODUCE MARKETS. Mkshiw Esam and Arthur's Weekly Report.—Business has been fairly active. On Tuesday we wild a shipment of 200 cases Tasmanian apples. Prices ruled from 5s to Us 3d, which will leave a lass to shippers. The quantity coming forward has been much in excess o£ requirements. Mr George Mason's sale of nursery stock, on Wednesday, lusted all day, and had to be continued on Friday. Prices ruled about same as la.!t year's. Thursday, we held an outdoor sale of household furniture. Friday's produce and fruit sale was largely attended, and a considerable amount was disposed of. Potatoes have been received in Auckland in large quantities during the week,about 7000 sacks ex South ; prices remain at about previous quotations. Cereals are without any material change, the quantity distributed during the week being only small, Chaff has been enquired for, but holders are indisposed to sell at present rates ; we think prices will advance. Onions are more plentiful, but quality varies so much that values are in proportion. Dairy produce is in strong demand ; prize butter realised Is fid to Is 6Jd, whilst A 1 brought Is 3£d to Is 5d ; keg sorts, IO.Jd to lid. Cheese has sold on arrival at anaverage of sd; we have orders unexecuted. New bacon and hams are coming in slowly, whilst the demand continues good. Canterbury factory is now on the market in wholesale lines. Poultry was in good supply at Friday's auction, and prices fully up to the average. I have received throe Southern consignments, most of which have been cleared at an average of £2 15s ex store, and up to £3 tor small lines ; Napiers, 45s to 50s ; Waikatos, 50s to 555; kidneys seed, a line of selected seed, ex H.s. Pukaki, quitted at an avarago of £4 ; Magnum Bonum, £3 10s; Beauty of Hepburn, £5. Shepherd's seed, good quality, £2 Job to £3. Onions have bean in moderate x ipplyand fair demand, all to hand realised Ail to Id, and supply not equal to demand ; finrse carrots, 25s to 30s; mangolds, 183 to 25s per ton; fowl wheat, quiet, at 33 to 3a 3il for beat lota ; oats, short feed, 2s 4d, Maize remains in gord demand at Is lid on wharf, and 2s 2d ex store; feed barley, 3s; kunieras, 5s 4d per cwt; sharps and bran, £5 ; bonedust, £0 15s to £9. Vegetables in good supply at good values. Butter: Prime, fresh. Is 2Ad to Is O.Jd ; medium, Is 2d to Is 3d Taranaki, bulk, keg and box, Is 4d; roll, Is 3d to Is 4d. Prime local keg butter : Several lots to hand all sold on arrival at Is, and demand still unsatisfied; medium, lid. This line may rise another Id, but I think fresh butter is now at the highest ligure. Eggs continue very scarce at Is 2d to Is sd. Cheese : Poor dairy made realised sijid, and factory made (id, and this price is now asked for a further line to arrive from Taranaki. Honey is much asked for at improved prices, section 4d, tinned 3id to 4d ; also lard, bacon, and hams in moderate supply with fair demand. Bacon, prime, well got-up, 5d to ; poor to medium, 3d to -1V1; hams, 4jd to 7^d; dressed pork, to 3d; poor, Id to 2d. Fruit: Owing to further heavy arrivals from Hobart, prices of apples have gone down fully Id during the last two weeks. First-class local apples, ljd to 2d ; poor and small, lid; Hobart, 5s 9d to 7s (id per case; Hobart pears, 8s to 10s per case; lemons, local, in fair simply, and keen demand; good large, Is to Is 3Jd ; small, 8d to lid. Cape Uooseberries, 1d ; peanuts, 2d. Poultry : Heavy supply, and prices are steadily improving. Fowls, good tnble lots Is 8d to 2s 3d, extra 2s fid, ordinary lots Is 'Id to Is 7J, poor small and old 9d to Is 3d ; roosters in condition, 2s to 2s Gd ; poor etc., Is 3d to Is (Si ; ducks, Is lid to 2a 9d ; geese, 3s to fin each. Turkeys, were unusually plentiful ; best gobblers, 4s to 8s (id; others, 2s Gd to 3s Gd ; hens, heavy, 2? 6d to 4s; poor, Is Gd to 2s 3d. Canaries, 2s 3d to 10s; pigeons, Gd to Is Gd. Pigs were penned in large numbers; demand slack; best lots, including specially bred, 10s to 15;; ordinary good, Gs to 9s ; poor, rough, and small, 3s Gd to ss. At the sale of nursery stock held on Thursday competition was dull. A sale of furniture and effects on Wednesday was largelv attended, and good prices ruled throughout.
