AUCKLAND NEWS
(by telegraph.—own correspondent.) Auckland, Laßt Night. Sir William Fox lias suffered a relapse ■since the death of his wife, and his condition is considered critical. Sir George Grey has been advised that Wellington is too cold for him in his present condition of health, and he has bnen urged to visit Sydney, a change to a warmer climatu being deemed advisable. He will probably go there by an early steamer. A fire broke out in D. Connor's restaurant, in Customs-street East, aoout 4 a.m. this morning. The building was entirely gutted, but the brigade extinguished the tire before it spread to the adjoining buildings. The boarders all got out safely, though Connor with his wife had to escape by a rope from an upper window. The building belonged to Mr L. D. Nathan, who has a policy for £10,000 over the block, which contains three buildings. The furniture was insured for £100 in the National.
