WAIKATO COUNTY COUNCIL.

The usual monthly meeting of the above County Council was held in the Council Chambers on Friday. There were present: Messrs A. Primrose (chairman), I. Coates, J. Forrest, H. J. Paton, S. T. Seddon, and F. J. Johnson.

Small Birds. —A communication was received trqtn the Agricultural Department, suggesting that simultaneous action by all local bodies in Waikato be made to take steps to destroy the small birds. —The letter was receive^, Ellis' Bridge.—Mr T. G. Sandes, to whom the account for repairs to this bridgo was referred, replied that it was correct, but that more timber had, perhaps, been used than was necessary.

Audit.—The Auditor - General wrote, stating that it made no difference whether a Road Board paid its Hospital rata from its general fund or from a special rate.—Mr Forrest, as chairman of the Cambridge Road Board, after hearing the letter read, said they would pay the rate from their general fund.

Angles on Road.—Messrs Sidgwickand Wallace, of Huntly, wrote, asking that the road past their properties be straightened, as it was dangerous to the public travelling along, and agreeing to pay half the cost.— Cr. Johnson said there was no danger on the road. He had seen Mr Sidgwick yestarday, and informed him they would have to pay engineer's expenses also. Mr Sidgwick said he would have to confer with Mr Wallace before giving an answer, —It was resolved to reply, stating that tha Council, did not feel disposed to interfere.

Model Farji.—The following tenders were received tor the lease of the Model Farm :—F. R. Seddon, £25 10s; Isaac Coates, the whole £23, the northern portion £13. Mr Seddon's tender was accepted.

Badgers Statutes,—lt was decided to procure a cony of Badger's Statutes. Cambridge Bridge.—'The Waipa County Council wrote enclosing copy of resolution re the maintainence of the Waikato bridge at Cambridge. They want the Survey Department to determine who should be the contributing bodies to maintain this bridge, and agree to pay all expenses if they should fail to prove their case, It was roaolved to reply, disclaiming any liability. Engineer.—Cr. Johnson moved that the matter of obtaining the services of an engiueer for the Rangitiri outlying district be allowed to stand over for two months. Crs, Forrest and Johnson thought that Mr Sandes should be dealt with very severely unless he completes the Taniwha Road contract. This job had been held over now for soma three mont'is. Cr. Johnson said a resolution should be made enforcing the engineer to complete this contract. Cr. Forrest seconded the resolution which was carried. The clerk was instructed to write to Mr T. G. Sandes. calling his attention to the fact that the time for completing this contract had expired. Storey's Account.—Mr Storey agreed to take £4 2s Id from his account for re-build-ing bridge. This was accepted. Proctor's Road.—Cr. Johnson reported that; the work on this road had been completed, and the account for £G was passed. Thirds.—Mrs O'Doninie wrote, asking if any on?-third money was lodged to the credit of her block, Whangamarino, in the county. The clerk reported that the information had not been received from the Receiver of Land Revenue. Payments.—The following accounts were passed for payment: —Rangiriri Licensing Committee, El 19s; £1 10s 3d ; A. Smith, £1 ss; Storey, £11 and £0 ; Wilkinson, 12s Us; Hubbard, 12s; New Zealand Herald, £2; T. Kirk, £1 4s; Waitemata County Council, £1 10s; travelling expanses, £2 103' , . , Rate.—A rate Id in £1 was made in the lvgngiriri Outlying District. Repairs.—Cr. Johnson said soma repairs were needed on the Rangiriri Outlying District, some holes in these roads being very dangerous. It was resolved to expend a sum not exceeding £0 on these roads, the wo k to be done under the supervision of Cr. Johnson. Finance. —The Clerk reported that the general account was £320 13s 3d in debt,
