(by electric telegraph.—copyhight). London, June 23. A cargo of Adelaide wheat has been sold at 345, and Victorian at 34s 3d. Mr Dibbs, in an address before the Empire Trade League, opposed Imperial federation, preferring commercial union on a preferential basis. At the wool sales to-day bidding was spirited. Faulty sorts show a slight improvement and good wools have an upward tendency. American competion is keen and the Bradford market continues dull. Tops sorts are rather weaker a3 the manufacturers decline to operate except at a reduction having no confidenco in the present values. New York, June 23. At the Democratic Convention,in the first ballot Mr Grover Cleveland was •lected the nonimee for the PresidentShip. He secured 616 votes, Owen Hill 112 and Governor Boles 103. The Democratic platform describes the McKinley tariff as an atrocity, and demands a gold and silver standard for money. Paris, June 22. A clerk in the French war office has been, arrested for selling official docu» ments to tho German authorities. Washington, June 22. Mr Cleveland has succeeded in gaining final nomination as democratic candidate for the Presidency.
