COURSING CLUB
A large and representative meeting of gentlemen interested in coursing was held in the British Hotel, on Tuesday night. Mr F. Lawry, M.H.R., in the chair. It was resolved that a club be formed to be called the Auckland Metropolitan Plumpton Coursing Club. The office of president was left vacant pending , negotiations with the Hon. E. Milchelson who, they were wishful, should be appointed to that position. Messrs W. V. Buckland, M.H.R., and W. Lyle were elected vice-Preeidents. A committee was formed consisting of tho followincr seven gentlemen, with power to add acid to their number: —Messrs J. 0. Evitt, T. McEwin, J. Wakefield, J. W. Russell, T. McCready, J. Beehan. and W. A. Fenton ; Treasurer, Mr J. Dickey, Secretary, Mr A. Coates ; solicitor to the club, Mr A. Whitaker; Bankers, The National Bank of New Zealand, Auckland. The terms of tho Auckland Racing Club were accepted, viz., that the Auckland Kacing Club receive all revenues accruing from the gates, booths, and stands, without incurring any expense in fixing up the grounds. At the same time they would assist in carrying out the programmes of the Coursing Club by giving a purse at each of the principal meetings, etc. A subscription list was opened in the room subscribers of a guinea to be entitled to membership, £70 was collected. The former minutes in the books referring to coursing at Avondale were rpscinded. There is a remnant of the old Auckland Coursing Club who intend to put forth their best efforts in order to continue coursing at Avondale, but, we are convinced that this apparent opposition will not materially effect the recently formed Coursing Club, the majority, and by far the most prominent members, of the former Club having cast in their lot with the Auckland Metropolitan I'lumpton Coursing Club, and thero is simply no comparison between the respective coin-sing grounds of the two Clubs, viz., Avondale and Kllerslie. —Herald.
