The New Zealand Loan ami Mercantile Agency Company report under date : — Christchurch. May 27.—Store Sheep : The entry dirl not exceed 3000, most of which were merino wethers. The late boisterous weather may have damped the ardour of buyers ; at any rate, notwithstanding a large attendance, there did not seem the avidity to buy noticeable of late. Stock certainly looked the worse for the cold, wet night. Prices realised were as follows Merino wethers 7s 2d to 8s 6d, cross-bred lambs lis 2d to lis lOd, cross-bred ewes in lamb lis 8d to 13s (Id, and two and foortooth do at 14s lid, aged merino owes in lamb 9s Bd ; —Fat Sheep: A full supply penned. The demand for lirst-class sheepfore:;port was keener than ever, and highly satisf wt .ry values were realised, viz.. heavy weights 10s to 21.s Od, medium 17s (id to'lSsGd. light do His to 17s.—Fat Cattle : The Ix-ef supply was neither noticeable for quality nor numbers this week ; the absence of primo quality on the othpr baud rather characterised the entry. 'Ihe demand for prime beef vas equal to late rates, but for second quality competition was decidedly slack.—Store Cattle : \erv little business doing in this department, and a dull inquiry met the meagre entry offered. Good dairy cows are in firm damaud, and sell at £7 10s to -810. LONDON MARKET. The following telegram has been received by the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Company, under date London, June 4:— The frozen bt»ef market is dull and the mutton market is quiet. The prices for beef and mutton have declined $d per lb since last report. Quotations are nominal. The lamb market is firmer, and the price of lamb has advanced J>d per lb since last report. Tallow holders are cont"iit to accept lower rates; quotations unchanged, market flat.
