Mh A\ alter Bentley. who has just returned from a successful theatrical tour in New Zealand, met with a splendid reception on his opening here. .Mr Crick, solicitor, is now appearing before the Commission of Inquiry into the charges against tlie llailway Commissioners on behalf of Mr Sehey, M.L.A., who occupies the position of witness. MrHoyle, M.L. A., has issued a writ claiming £10,000 damages from Mr Eddy, in connection with the laltei's statements to tie: Iloyal Commission. In the slander case, Mr Toohey, M.L. A., v. Mr Melville, Chairman or Committees, claiming -L'2ooo damages for ejectment from the Chamber, the full Court held that the Chairman had power to order Mr Toohey's removal a.'id entered up judgment for the defendant. Mr Thomas Walker, M.L. A., member for Northumberland, while under the influence of liquor, shot the Rev. Mr Lasnron in a railway carriage on a suburban line. The wound is stated not to be dangerous, although the bullet has not yet been extracted. Walker has been arrested, and at present it is not known whether the act was intentional.
