SUPREME COURTS.
—; * (BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.) Auckland, Last Night. The Supreme Court Criminal Sessions were opened to-day. The Judge's charge contained nothing of special importance. Frederick Williams, alias Frederick William Chambelaiu, was charged with stealing one horse belonging to Samuel Southeley. Prisoner pleaded guilty. Thomas Petty was charged with larceny as a bailee of one roan mare, saddle, and bridle, the property of John Donnolly. Prisoner pleaded guilty, but said it was drink that caused him to commit the offence, lie went to Rotoru.it in search of employment, got drunk there and after that he did not remember what he had done. He was sentenced to six months' imprisonment with hard labour. Henare Paihan, was charged with having on the 20th of March, at Russel. maliciously killed two hulls belonging to Pati Hakaria. A verdict of not guilty was returned on the grounds of insanity, but the prisoner was ordered into custody, pending the ploasnm of tho Colonial Secretary. James Watson, an n'd offender, was sentenced to five years for stealing a kw.ib ; and Ernest Lawson to twelve months for breaking and entering, at Pousonby. (Br TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION). Wellington, Last Night. At the Supreme Court, no bill was cast against Kicolson, alias Satown, for larceny. Lane, on a charge of burning down a small cottage at Silverstroam was acquitted.
