PICTURESQUE ATLAS CASES SETTLED.

» The Bowernian Brothers have practically agreed to terms in respect of the outstanding " Picturesque Atlas" prosecutions brought by them aeainst'subscribers in Auckland, Pukekohe, Papaknra and Wairoa. At Papakura two cases against Messrs Hydo and Southerland were detorminnd by the Court against Bowerman Bros. The cases against Messrs jlcNicol, Laing, Willis, Thorpe and Daubeney have been settled, the defendents taking a certain number of parts, the average being about eight, and paying for these parts £2. Bowerman Bros, paid the Court costs, and the defendants named pav their own expenses outside of those allowed by the Court. At Pukekohe some 28 cases were withdrawn upon the R.M. agreeing to admit outside collateral evidence as to the credibility of the plaintiffs' witnesses. These cases are also practically settled (with three exceptions) on the same terms as those made with the Papakura people. A number of Auckland cases have been withdrawn, the defendants agreeing to take about eight parts of the work each for £2, this being their total liability, in addition to paying their own txpenses. It is therefore very unlikely that Bowerman Bros, will trouble subscribes in this part of the colony any farther. .
