Thf Waikato Times Office, Friday. AUCKLAND LIVE STOCK MARKET. Messrs A. Bucklanh and Sons' Report.—At the Haymarket during the past week loose fodder has brought from 1* 9d to 3h 8d tho cwt ; pressed hay, £3 10s the ton ; oats, Is !M to 2s od ; maize, Is 8d to Is lOd ; rye-trrass, 3s (id to 4s 3d ; cocksfoot, 4s fid to Gs the bushel. On Friday horse stock yarded in full numbers. Young scund animals sold freely at fully late values ; the inferior animals were lower in prices ; unbroken riding horses brought from £7 to £10 ; useful farm horses, £810-) to £20 each ; a spring c;\rt, £22 10s. On Tuesday hides were at late values ; ox hides ranged from 2Ad to 4'jd : cow hides, ljd to ; calfskins, sjjd the lb ; tallow, 17s (id and 18s the cwt; lambskins, Is to 2s ; pelts and Hkins, from 9d to 2s lid each ; lucks and pieces, 2Jd to the lb. At Reimiera on Thursday dairy cows in less numbers than usual were required. All good animals at their profit ranged from £5 15s 6d to £7 12s (id each ; store cattle, in limited numbers, sold freely. Calves, in usual supply, were required and kept their values. Fat cattle in average number ; 276 sold, were mostly heavy steers of prime quality ; prices were irregular. Ship-borno oxen were from l(is to 17s Od ; Auckland fatted, 17a to 20s the 1001b. Sheep of all classes abundant ; 1G33 yarded. Prices on the whole were easier, but quotations equal late markets. Fat wethers were from 12s to 18s ; ewes, 9s to 13s (id each ; store wethers, !)s ; store crossbred ewes in lamb, 9s to 10s; store lambs, 4s to Ga Gd each. Pigs plentiful; 138 sold, mostly of good quality and well-bred. Heavy pigs brought from 3">s to 425; porkers, 13s to 27s ; coarse store pigs, 3s to 4s each.

Messrs Hunter and Nolan's Rf.port. —Horse feed, grain, seeds, etc. : Stocks have been moderate, and a steady demand has existed, with little alteration in value. Wo quote: Oats, 2s to 2s 4d per bushel; maize, Is lOd; bran, £4 per ton ; oaten chaff, £2 10s to £2 12s Gd : rye grass, 4s Gd to 5s per bushel; cocksfoot, Gs to 7s per bushel. Horses : The supply has been good, and a corresponding demand has existed for those of a good stamp, at prices in favour of the vendor. lliero was a large nniiiber of entries at the Durham Yards on Friday. Competition was good throughout the siile, particularly for those of a good stamp, and almost without exception lots were cleared. Wo quote : Hacks, at from £4 10.-) to £11 7s Gd ; light harness and medium draught, £G 10s to £13 15s ; medium and heavy draught colts, £8 10s to £23 10s. Wool, hides, skins, tallow, bones, etc. : Above the average quantities were pitched at the Durham Yards on Tuesday, and bidding was brisk throughout. We quote : Strong ox hides, 4|d co 3d per lb; medium to stout, 3d to 4d ; steer and cow, lfd to 2gd; kip, 2Jd to 2fd ; stag, l.|d ; tallow, lGs to 18s Gd per cwt ; bones, £4 10s to £5 per ton ; sheepskins, Is lOd to 3s each ; lambskins, Is Gd to 2s Id each ; pelts, Gd to Is 7d ; lambswool, GJd ; skin wool, 4d per lb. Cattle : The supply has not been a large one, but of fat beasts was sufficient for requirements, while more dairy cows would have found ready purchasers at high prices. There was rather a small muster at Newmarket on Tuesday ; competition for dairv and store stock was brisk and steady for fat beasts, prices being irregular, ranging from 17s to 19s per 1001b. At Papakum, on Wednesday, the yards were moderately filled. There was a strong demand, at fully Newmarket rates. Dairy cows sold at from £4 to £8 ; stores at the previous week's values; some averages of steers were-£7 18s 3d, £7 ss, £7 Is lid, £G 3s 4d, £G 2s lOd ; cows—£s Gs 4d, £4 17s (id, £3 17s Gd, Sheep were penned at Newmarket in rather limited numoers, but prices were slightly in favour of the purchaser, as compared with the previous week. Wethers sold at from 12s 3d tu lGs Oil ; ewes, 9s to 153 9d ; mixed sexes, 10s 6d to 14s 3d ; lambs, 4s 3d to 93 6d. Pigs were yarded in increased numbers, and sold at from 2jd to 3d per lb, live weight. AUCKLAND PRODUCE MARKETS. (nr TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.) Auckland, Last Night.—ln the local produce market the prices have greatly changed. Best dairy butter is Is ; second quality, 9d ; and third quality, 7d per lb wholesale. Eggs are very scarce, and the price has advanced to Is Gd per dozen wholesale, and Is !)d per dozen retail ; cheese, 4d. Potatoes : Canterbury, £2 10s ; Napier, £2. CHRISTCHUKCH LIVE STOCK MARKETS. Tub New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company report under date : — CmusTOHUHCH, April 22.—Store Sheep: —About 2000 were penned in small lines, ali classes being represented. The rough weather was against a large attendance, but buyers were present for a great many mure sheep than were offered, consequently all lots mot good competition and sold well up to late values. A small lots of. twotooth cross-breds brought 13s lOd, a pen of young cross-hred ewes 13s 9d, aged crossbred ewes Ss7d, cross-bred lambs 8s 4d to flsßd, Chatham Island wethers lis 3d, and aged merino ewes ss.—Fat Lambs : A very small yarding met good competition at the hands of graziers, exporters and the trade. The New Zailand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company report under date: — Dunedin, April 28.— Grain.—'Wheat: There ia no frosh feature of any interest to report in the position of thp market, and certainly no improvement in the demand, which continues exceedingly unsatisfactory; indeed the tendency is towards lower prices. There are no shippers in the market, and millers are only disposed to operate at prices even below those obtaining lately, and then only in limitoi quantities and for the primest quality. Medium is only saleable as fowl feed, for which there is a moderate demand, but at prices more in favour of buyers. Quotations for best Tuscan velvet, 3s 8d to 3s lOd —Oats: The demand for these does not seem to improve, and, although a moderate amount of business is being done, mostly all the sales ejected are at prices showing a declino. In the meantime it is difficult to predict the future of the market; hut just now, in the absence of any demand for shipment, the quantity offered for immediate sale is tending to lower prices.
