WHATAWHATA.
Thk leap year bull which took place ou the 29th inst., was a brilliant success. The night being fine and the roads in Rood order tlipre was a vpry general response to the ladies leap year invitations. Great praise is due to the indefatigable exertions of the committee who did every thing in their power to make the ovening a pleasant one. Refreshments and fruit in abundance were provided. Mr Percy Meredith supplied the music (piano) in his usual good style. Miss Lillie Bishop made an efficient M.C. Several excellent songs were sung during the evening, which tended to enliven the proceedings. The young ladies set the bachlors a good example which they would do well to folow at the dances in future, in not confining their attentions to a few of the more favoured ones, they gave all a turn both young and old. At 12 o'clock they handed over the control of the proceedings to the bachelors in accordance with time honoured custom, and they, I regret to say, soon dropped back into their old grove again, one masher one girl.—An occasional correspondent.
