Le Temps, commenting on the revival of Kanaka labour in Queensland, taunts England with parmitting a committal of a most serious scandal— sullying tho reputation of mankind in modern times. London, May 6. . In reply to Earl Kimbcrly, Lord Knutsford said he was unaware what precautions would be taken to protect the Kanakas, but lit! was satisfied that tho Queensland Government would make adequate arrangements, and to that end he had instructed the Admiral on the Australian station to watch the importation and suggest how abuse could be avoided. Referring to the employment of coolics, he considered it the duty of the Indian Government to see that their safe return was secured in the event of dissatisfaction.
