CAMBRIDGE CHYRSANTHEMUM SOCIETY.
The standing committee of the Cambridge branch of the Avickland Chrysanthemum Society met on Thursday afternoon, Mr Wells being in the chair. A report re the late show was read and approved. The whole of the prize money has been paid and all ascertained liabilities discharged, and a nice little credit balance remains, but there are still a few accounts to come in, so only an approximate balance sheet could be presented. Hearty votes of thanks were accorded the following ladies and gentlemen for the assistance they had rendered :—To E. Lake, Esq., M.H.R., for having opened the show ; the Mayor for declaring, and the townspeople for obsorving, Friday as a halfholiday ; the ladies who provided afternoon tea; Messrs Thornton, Seddon, Mason and others for donations of ferns, palms, etc. ; the ladies; Messrs Potterton, Hester, Anqnitil, and others who helped in decorating the Hall; the judges, stewards, doorkeepers, vocalists and instrumentalists ; the Cambridge Band ; the parent Society for the loan of stands ; the Trinity Presbyterian Church Committee for the loan of lamps, and all others who in any way assisted in making the show a success.—lt was resolved to ask the Borough Council to enlarge the Public Hall as it is clearly too small for such purposes as shows ; also to provide better lamps for lighting the Hall,—Over 180 school-children's bouquets were exhibited at the show, and from the tone of letters received from many teachers, the children's exhibits a l , next year's show will be greatly in excess of that number.
