(Bt TELKGIUPH.— PBKSS ASSOCIATION). Fiklding, Last Night. The Premier addressed a crowded meeting last night, the Mayor presiding;. Ho spoke for an hour and a-half, and was frequßntly applauded. The principal topic dealt with was capital leaving the country, which he explained was a political move of the conservatives. Hβ quoted the vast progress made in land settlement, reviewed the taxation policy of the Government; said the question of borrowing to make roads and bridges would have to be faced before lons ; referred to the useful work of the Labour Bureau; made a scathing attack on the dual vota proposals of conservative political associations and supported land nationalisation. In reply t'i questions he said that he favoured women s franchise and compensation to publican* for loss of licenses. Votes of thanks and confidence were accorded.
