WAIKATO COUNTY COUNCIL.
Thk usual monthly meeting of the Waikato County Council was held in the Chambers yesterilay. There were present: Messrs A. Primrose (Chairman), S. T. Seddon, J. J. Barngh J. Forrest, H. J. Paton, and F. J. Johnson. BiiAMBLES.—Mr Geo. Way wrote, drawing the attention of the Council to the growth of brambles on the approach to the Narrows bridgn, and that they were now spreading on to his ground, and nskitiß that measures be taken to remove them. These brambles had been planted to keop up the embankment.—Mr Forrest was instructed to report at the next meeting. FUNDS.—The cleric reported tho debit balance at the Bank on March 31, as £380 11s. sd. The riding accounts stand as follows: Kangiriri, £142 2s 1W; Kirikinma Gs Id; Tamahere, £20 4s fid; Cambridge, €92 17-s Hid ; model farm account, £141" lira Bd, all in'debt. Huntly Coal Mink.—The SniveyorGeneral wivte re the subsidence of a public road at Tanpiti, caused by coal being taken from underneath, saying that no grounds had been shown why an action slvmld be taken, aud suggesting that legal advice be obtained. .. Reserves. -The Town Clerk of Hamilton write saying that section 252, Cemetery Reserve, ond 252 a Eduction Reserve were within the Borough liniindii-y. Engineer's Commission.—Mr J.mnson moved th'i f Gloving motion, seconded by Mr Forrest., which had been held over from last meeting : That tho remuneration to be paid to tho County Engineer be, for all jobs up to £30,' ten par cent, coimnission ; over £30 and up to £00, 74 per cent.; over £00, 5 per cent. The above commission <x. cover all travelling and other expenses incurred by the Engineer, and that a copv of aU specifications be furnished to the Council, such copies to become the property of the Council.—This motion wai withdrawn in favour of paying the engineer not more than 7A per cent, on all jobs. "Ellis' Bridge.—Cγ Johnson reported that this bridge in Wairaugi had collapsed and that he had made arrangements to have it repaired. He said the bridge was in a very rotten condition, and it necessitated a lot of n3\v timber being used. The work had been done by L. istorey. I lie labour was £13 Bs, timber, £12; and other material, £1 Ss. The bill was referred back for fuller particulars, Hie Couticilluw thinking that Cr. .Johnson had done wrong in undertaking sucli a large work on his owu responsibility. Taniwha Road.—The clerk was instructed to draw the ongineßro attention that ha had not completed Ins part of the Taniwha Road contract. River Road. —Cr. Johnson reported that two bridges on the River road needed redecking.—Tho engineer was instructed to get the work done. , B\nk Overdraft. — Cr. Primrose moved: That the treasurer request tho Manager of the Bank of New Zealand at Hamilton, to allow the County Fund Account to be overdrawn from time to time, as may be required during the year ending on 31st March, 18U3 ; such overdraught not to exceed at any time the legal limit, as provided by Section 211, of the Counties Act. 1880 viz., £837 16< 10d, this being the total amount of receipts of the Guinty fund during the year ended 31-t March, 1802, exclusive of Government subsidy.—inis was seconded by Cr. Forrest, and carried. Allocation—The amount to bo paid as contribution to the Hospital fund is £417 10s, which amount is allocated aa follows :- Ratieiriri £72 Ss ; Kinkiriroa, £218 lflsbdj &ere, £43 lfo ; Cambridge, £82 73 Gd. Accounts.—The following accounts were passed for payment -.-Lindsay Bros. Urnber £12: Flannigan, £LOs; Dr. Murcli, 2s Gd • Government printer, 10a; Borough of Hamilton, £2 4s 4.\d ; travelling expenses, £2 10i; salaries, £12 10a,
