Tha Waihato Times Office, Wednesday. MARKET REPORTS. The New Zealand Lnan and Mercantile Agency Company report under date :— Dunkihn, April 11.—The tendency of the market is evidently towards lower prices, and at the moment in void of any animation. Transactions during the past week have not been to any great extent, buyers being indisposed to do busings at sellers ideas of values. Tha unsatisfactory tone of the market at Home is largely influencing the course of the local market, and until a ivaction sots in there, wo can hardly expect prices to continue steady here. A pood deal of the wheat now coming forward shown considerable signs of unfitness for milling purposes, and will either have to bo kiln-dried or disposed of immediately for fowls' food. Last week's prices itro tut obtainable now. We quote : Prime milling Tuscan and velvet, 3s 101 to -Is ; good to best, 3s (id to 3s lid ; medium to good, 3s to ;;■, (id ; inferior and fowls' wheat, 2s 3d t.i 2s i)d (ex store, sacks weighod in, Wins).—O.its : Deliveries are now assuming larger dimension*, and, with so m»ny growers anxious for immediate sale, doubtless in order to save storage, the market is much weaker, aud considerably more in favour of buyers. A moderate business is passing, but at the moment shippers are not inclined to purchase very freely at last week's prices—in fact, they are not obtainable this week. The prevailing idea is that until good bright feed can ba purchasod at lower prices no largo purchases will be made. We quote prime milling, Is s)(d to Is (id ; best feed, Is od to Is ; medium to good, Is 4d to Is 4Ad (ex store, sacks extra, net; Jd per bushel extra, f.o.b. Duuedin).—Potatoes: These are hardly saleable. Top price at auction this week was 30s for good Derwenta, others IDs to 30s (sacks weighed in, e.< store).— Dairy Produce.—Stocks of both cheese and butter are being gradually reduced, and the prospect of securing better prices further on is somewhat better; meantime we quote as before. Factory-made cheese, medium size, 4.W ; loaf shape, 4Jd ; dairy-made, 3d to 4d per lb ; prime salt butter, dairy-made, 8d to Sid, factory lid to per lb. Sydney. April 11.—Wheat (duty lOd lOOlbl— There has been little or no business passing locally under this heading since we last wrote, and in the absence of sales therefore prime milling quality may be quoted nominally at from -Is l)d to 4s lOd. The southern markets, howover, continue to weaken, and in Melbourne prime milling cannot bo quoted beyond Is por bushel; and us it may be inferred that local milk-rs will not give above that equivalent here, we doubt if our nominal quotations could actually bo obtained. Chiokwheat is in better supply, and we quote best whole to •H 2d, and broken and inferior from 3s upwards.—Oats (duty lOd in the 1001b).—Continue in heavy supply, stocks consisting almost altogether of inferior and medium to fair feed descriptions. Prime feed oats are scarce, and are worth to 2s fid. We quote medium to fair feed qualities to 2s 3d, and seed to 2s 7d. Within the past ten days some 10,000 sacks of oats have come forward from New Zealand.—Butter (duty 2d per lb).—With the past ten days a further fluctuation in prices has been experienced, best local factory at one time advancing to Is 3d per lb, and dairy to Is Id per lb. Values, however, have again receded, and best local factory butter is now quoted to Is, and best dairy to lOd per lb. Supplies, however, are by no means heavy, and we are inclined to think that values must improve again shortly.—Cheese duty 2d per j D ),—Firm. We quote best local to s£d, special brands commanding up to (id per lb. —Ham 3 (duty 2d per lb) are in better demand, and we quote best New Zealand to 10.W per lb.—Bacon (duty 2d par lb): Is also meetinz with mora inquiry. Wo quote best New Zealand to 8d per lb.—Potatoes (duty 10s per ton).—Shipments both from Tasmania and Victoria have been very heavy of late, and stocks haying accumulated to a certain extent, valubs have been effected. A shipment of over 4000 sacks also came forward fiom New Zealand. Aoblaidk, April 7.—Wheat: During the past week several parcels have changed bands, sellers showing a little more inclination to meet buyers. There is a slightly better tone in the market owing to the Victorian Government proposing to increase the rail charge from the Wimmera district, which it is expected will stop any further supplies from that quarter. The London market continues in a vary unsatisfactory condition, and prices are too low to permit of shipments being made from this side. Under date sth inst., our London office cabled us as follows :—" Quotations are nominal. Tho market is in a stats of collapse, and tho prospects are uncertain.' — Oats (duty 2s per cental): Fair feed quality New Zealand feed oats are worth 2s 4d to 2s Gd per bushel, in bonJ, gross weight, bags included.
