On Thursday the market salo was held, but the bidding was not equal to ordinary anlos. A fair quantity was quitted, but all lines were not sold as value* were much lower throughout. Potatoes are daily falling in value, in consequence of the very large quantities arriving from South. Sale* effected in quantities as follows-.-Prime Napier, £2 10-< to £3 ; Canterbury and Oamaru, £2 5s to £3; prirno Waikato, £2 10s to £3; medium parcels, 25s to 455; cow potatoes, 20i to 30s. Onions continue to go off freely at low prices, at which local growers do not care to quit, and are leaving an open market f»r Southern producers. Prime Southern, £3 to £3 10a ; prime local, £3 10* to £4 10s, and Ad to Id per lb ; maize quitted in good quantities at la 10d wholesale, and 2s in email parcels; oats, only local offering, at la 9d to 2s ; wheat, 3j 8d to 4s in small lota: kumeras, Gs to 10a per cwt; pumpkins, prime sample, £2 10a to £3 5s ; green lota, Is to Iβ 6d ; pie melons, Is to Is 9d. Vegetables in very large supply at fair values. Butter and eggs: The demand has been more limited. Butter, prime, fresh, 10d to ll.'id; puor, 8d to 9£d ; eggs, guaranteed fresh, Is to Is 3Ad ; pickled, 6Jd to 8d; honey, 101b tins 3d to 3Jd ; bulk, 2Jd to 4d; section, 3s Gd per doz. Cheese: Supplies far short of demand. Prime dairies, 4d; others, 3d to 3A,d ; factory, prime, 4Jd; small loaves, 5d to s£d ; keg butter, prime •pring made, 8d to 9d ; prime summer maie, 7d to 8d ; poor, to ; Taranaki separator, lid, dairy, 8d to 9d; pastry, 6'd to 7Jd. Bacon and hams : A large quantity Southern cure quitted at auction. Bacon, first quality, 7d ; farmers' cure, 5d to 5Jd; hams, first quality, in cloth, 9d to 10d ; seconds, 5d to 6d. Fruit: The total supply for the week has beon over 1000 cases, local, anil values have not baen any higher. Apples appear to be keeping very bad this season, consequently growers are compelled to quit at unce. On Tuesday good values were obtained throughout, but on Thursday values were lower, consequently all lots were not sold. Bananas: 1600 bunches, ex s.s. OValau, realised 2s Cd to 8s 3d for f.ood bunches, and Is Gd t> 2s for small ; medium lota, 2s to 2s 0d; damaged, In to Is 6d. Cocoanuts, 5s lid to 7s. Poultry staged in very large numbers. First-class fowls realised Is Gd to Is 10d ; ordinary, Is to Is 41 ; poor, small, and old, 7d to Is ; roosters, in condition, Is 8d to 2s 4d ; small, and poor, 10d to Is Gd ; ducks, pour, 9d to Is 2d; fat, Is 3d to 2s; geese, low. viz., Is Gil to 2s Gd each. Turkeys also low. Heavy gobblers, 3* to 7s ; others, 2s to 2s 9d ; heavy hens, 2s Gd to 3s 9d; small, young, and poor, Is 4d to 2s Gd. Canaries, Is Cd to3s 3d: pigeons, lOd to 2s 6d. Pigs penned in moderate number. None of choice breed. Prices ranged from 3s 3d to 8a 9d, according to class. Messrs Esam and Arthur's VVrekly Report.—The following prices were obtained at auction on Tuesday and Thursday. Values, generally, are without any change nf importance :—Potatoes: Hobarts, Waikato, £2 to £2 15s; Southern, £2 10s to £3 ; kidneys, £210s. Pumpkins, £2_ to £2 ss; pie and citron melons, Is to Is Gd ; carrots, £110 a ; oats, Is 8d to 2a; maize, Is lid to 2s ; barley, 2s 6d ; bran, 4s; sharps, 4a. Fresh butter, No. 1, 9d to ; No. 2, 7d to 8d ; salt butter, 7d. to 8d ; cheese, 3d to 4d ; eggs, guaranteed, to lid : honey, 101b tins, 3d j bacon, 4d to 5Jd j hams, 5d to 6jd.
