CAMBRIDGE SCHOOL.
The athletic sports in connection with the Cambridge Public School, will be held on Thursday next; unci we trust the parents of the children will this year take » little more interest in the sports of their offsprings than they have done in the pa*t, and not ( hi 1 y be present, but also assist the teachers in making arrangements for the various events. The public have responded most liberally to the appeal on behalf of the youngsters, the amount subscribed being larger than on any previous occasion, consequently the prizes will be good ones. No cash will be given, as soma of the pilrents object to their children running for money, so the trophies will consist of various useful articles. An extra attraction will be added to these sports in the shape of races for boys and girls under 15 of Waikato for prizes value £3, which amount has kindly been voted for the purpose by the Oam bridge Sports Committee. The boys' race will be 250 yds., unci the girls' race 150 yds ; fi.» each event first, second and third prizes will be given, (trophies) valuo respectively £1, 7s O'l, and 2s Gd. The entry is free, but the names of intending competitors must be given in to Mr A. Bach before 10 a.in on Thursday ;he will iirringe the handicaps on the ground. We trust the children may be favoured with fine weather for then they are sure to spend a happy day.
