The Waikato Times Office, Friday. AUCKLAND LIVE STOCK MARKET. Messrs A. Buckland and Sons' Report. —At the Haymarket during the past week meadow hay has brought from 3s to 4s ; oaten sheaves, 2s to 2s 3d the cwt; straw, 10s to 15s the load ; maize, wholesale, Is 8d retail Is lOd the bushel ; potatoes, 30s to 60s the ton. On Friday horse stock in usual nrmber kept their values. Strong harness horses brought from £15 to £2110s ; medium strength, £5 to £8 each. On Tuesday hides in full number were, unless of choice quality, at lower values ; best ox brought from 3£d to 4Jd ; light hides, Id to 2id ; calfskins, 3Jd tos£d the lb ; pelts and lambskins were without alteration in values. At VVaiuku on Saturday a small supply of cattle scarcely kept last month's values. At Remuera on Thursday dairy cows plentiful and in fair inquiry ; several pawed, highor prices being sought by sellers than buyers cared to give; those sold ranged from £3 15s to £6 10s. Store cattle in full numbers ; grown steers kept late values, but cows and young cattle were at lower values. Fat calves plentiful, Kenerally of Urge size ; prices were without alteration, and ranged from 12s to 30* each, 03 sold. Fat cattle in average number and nxcellint quality, 245 sold ; bidding was brisk throughout; prices ranged from 19s to 21s the 1001b, Sheep in less than usual number, 930 sold ; fat sheep were short of requirements and advanced in price ; store sheep dull of sale at lower values. Young pigs abundant, and brought from 2s Od to 4s each ; fat pigs in usual supply were required ; porkers ranged from 18s to 27s ; heavy pigs, 40s to 50s each. Messrs Hunter and Nolan's Report.— Grain, seeds, horse feed, etc.: Rather more business than usual has been done, and there is a hardening tendency in the prices of grain of all kinds. We quote: Oats from Is lOd to 2s 3d per bushel; maize, Is lOd to 2s ; barley, 2s 9d ; wheat, 3s Gd to 4s; rye grass, 4s to 6s ; cocksfoot, Gs to 7s per bushel; oaten chaff, £2 10s to £2 15s per ton ; bran, £4 per ton. Horses : The market has continued brisk, and those of a good stamp have found ready purchasers. About an average number changed hands at previous values. A good many were submitted by auction on Friday, at the Durham Ynrds. Bidding was brisk throughout the sale. We quote : Hacks, £4 10s to £8 17s Od ; light and medium draught, £5 10s to £13 ss; heavy draught, £19 10s. Wool, hides, skin, tallow, etc. : Average quantities were pitched at the Durham Yards on Tuesday. Skins were in slack demand, but bidding was brisk for hides and wool up to the previous week' 3 values. We quote: Stout ox hides at 3d to4Jdperlb; cow and steer, 2d to ; damaged, Id to ljd ; kip, 2hd to 3d ; calf skins, 3d to 4id per lb; tallow, £14 to £18 per ton; bones, £5 to £5 2s Od per ton ; sheepskins, Is 2d to lslOd each ; lambskins, Is 3d to Is lid ; broken and weevilly skins, Id to 9d each ; wool: Fleece, s£d to 6£d per lb; pieces, ljd to 3£d. Cattle : The supply of fat and dairy stock has scarcely been sufficient for requirements. A large number of stores have been brought forward, and found ready sale at prices satisfactory to vendors. There was a large muster of the latter at the Newmarket yards on Tuesday, and a good many were yarded at Papakura on Wednesday. We quote: Calves, 16s to 21s; yearlings, 20s to 31s ; eigliteen-month-old steers, £2 to £2 ss; two-year-old steers, £2 10s to £3 5s ; grown steers, £3 10s to £5; dry cows, £117s Gd to £2 15s; beef, 18s to 20s per 1001b. Some averages of steers were : £8, £7 19s 6d, £7 17s 6d, £7 7s 6d, £5 18s ; cows. £5 17s 6d ; £5 5s ; £4 18s Bd, £4 17s 6d, £3 10s. Sheep : The Newmarket yards were well filled on Tuesday, and bidding was spirited throughout the sale. Wethers sold at from 9s to 17s each; ewes, 10s 9d to 13s 6d; lambs, 53 to 15s Gd each. Pigs were plentiful, and in good demand ; weaners sold at 7s, and light baconers up to 40s each.

LOCAL PRODUCE MARKET. (BY TELEGRAPH.—OWNOOBRE3PONDKNT.) Auckland. Last Night. — Potatoes: Oamarus have sold freely at £3 per ton. Sydney advices ex Waihora report that Warrnambool potatoes will be out of the market in another month, and that the Tasmanian crop of the year's growth, although large, is of very doubtful quality,, and that general reliance is placed upon New Zealand for a continuance of good quality to Australia for the rest of the season. Maize is well sought after, at Is 9d off wharf for parcels. Cocksfoot is getting gcarce, owing to the merchants not coring to hold heavy stocks. Milling wheat: Larg'3 quantities are daily being delivered by local farmers into the local mills, and of uniformly good quality, the best for years, prices only range between 4s and 4s 3d. Fowl wheat is getting more plentiful. Flour: A reduction of 20s per ton in both local and Southern flour has taken place today. Eggs have still further receded, the market being flooded with this class of produce. A scarity is manifested of very choice qualities of dairy butter, all other frades being supplied in great abundance, •rices are: Best dairy butter, lOd ; second quality, 5d per lb wholesale. Eggs are Is per dozen wholesale, and Is 3d per dozen retail.
