MR J. MCNICOL'S THIRD SHEEP FAIR.

Mr McNicol held his third sheep fair of thn season at Ohanpo yesterday, but not- i withstanding the break in tho weather since t th-J last fair, prices were no better for Rood J class uf sheep and for inferior lots lower rates rilled. A large proportion of the t sheep entered were poor in quality, and as I will be seen from the extended report below, I principally made up of Merino owes and 1 cros;t>red lambs, all low in condition. Mr 1 Gillett had a fine lot of lambs which were c cecnrad by Mr T. Walker at up to 8s Gd. t Mr Basil Hewitt, of Kihikihi, penned an i even Rood lot of 2-tooth wethers fit for the 1 butcher, these fell to the bid of Mr Casey, < at 12s 2d. The demand for rams was ; limited, only the young well-bred sheep i meeting with any competition. From what < we could gather yesterday it was generally < considered that those who were, in the < matter of feed, enabled to buy, would do I well out of their purchases, as later on, i when stock will be required for eating off the exceptionally large area laid down in i turnips this season, higher prices must i succeed to the extensive demand that will then set in. 1 s. d.
