THE MINERS' STRIKE.
(BY ELECTRIC TELKORAPH.— COPYRIGHT). London, March 19. TirE miners have agreed to suspend work on Mondays, beginning on April 9. The Pall Mall Gazette asserts that the losses of the men by the stoppage amciint to hnlf-a-million, and that the cost to the consumers will bo greater. It is alleged that the middlemen and merchants will reap a benefit. The Durham funds are sufficient for three months, and tho Federation is making a levy of £-1000 a week. The miners have agreed in future to work only five days a week. Coal has undergone a further fall of 2s per ton. The Durham miners refuse to resume work, and ten thousand more men have struck. It is understood that the Government will oppose the Miners' Eight Hours Bill. The Miners' Federation is favourable to making a levy of 6d per week to assist the Durham strikers. It is expected that the miners will have at an early date to submit to a heavy reduction in wages.
