COLONIAL DEFENCES.
[BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH. —COPYRIGHT]. Melbourne, March 11. The Government have cabled to Mr E. Stanhope, Minister for War, that the fortifications of Thursday Island and King George's Sound are actually in course of construction. Mr Stanhope, in the House of Commons, reproached the colonies for supposed apathy in the matter.
