The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile ; Agency Company report untler date : — , Chkistchuhch. February 26.—Wheat: A few samples have been on offer during , the week, but so far little business has resulted. Buyers are fighting shy of grain not in perfect condition, or threshed from ' thostook. Nominally, values are 3s 7d to 3s !)d f.0.b., sacks extra.— Oats : Transactions during the week have been limited, and only be.«t samples of milling are inquired for. We quote—Prime milling Is 7Ad to Is Sid, heavy feed Is Gd to Is 7d, long Is 4id to Is •_d per bushel, f.0.b., sacks extra. — Ryegr.iss : Considerable quantities of seed are coming forward to store, for dressing on farmers' account, there being a poor demand for such parcels. Heavy, clean samples are easily sold. Present quotations are—Farmers' parcels 2s 3d to 2s 9d per bushel, delivered ; town, machine-dressed, 3s !)d to 4s per bushel, ex store, sacks extra.—Cocksfoot: Large quantities of seed are now being offered, but the greater part being either damaged or discoloured, not much business has resulted. Today's qu<titions are—Bright, heavy samples 3_d to 3_d per lb, delivered ; discoloured and inferior Id per lb below these quotations.—ba : ry Produce : unchanged. ADKLAIDK February If!.— Wheat : Towards the end of last week a firmer feeling was manifested and several sales were reported'at 4s 5d to 4s Gd per bushel at Port Adelaide. Millers having supplied their requirements, prices eased about Id per bushel, some fair tr mictions boing rep irted at 4s 4Ad, to 4s 5d per bushel on trucks Port Adelaide. The quantity offering is not large, and in face of the improved news from London, we do not anticipate that prices will ease.notwithstauding that our quotations are considerably over London parity. Under date 10th inst. our London office cabled us as follows:—The market is firmer, and there is a fair demand. Victorian wheat, f.a.q., is worth, c.i.f., to arrive 3'Js Gd per quarter, and Victorian wheat ex warehouse 43s Gd per quarter.— Oats ; (Duty 2s per cental) New Zealand feed oats are worth 2s 4d to 2s fid per bushel in bond, gross weight, bags included. DUNBDIN February 25.—Wheat, : The market continues dull, and practically without alteration. Transactions locally are of a meagre description, most of the business done being confined to a few sal-.'s of inferior for feeding purposes. Nearly all our mills are still closed, and until millers' stocks of flour are very much further reduced we do not anticipate much improvement in the demand fcr milling wheat. Pending the opening ot the market for the new season's wheat, quotations are without changiy and are only nominal, say, for test milling (Northern), 4s3d to 4s Gd ; medium to gcod 3sill to 4s 3d ; inferior to medium, 2s to 3s 8d (ex storo, sacks weighed in, terms).— Oats : There is no material change to note in the position of the market for these. A moderately fair demand is experienced for both prime feed and milling, bright and sweet; on the other hand any offering with the slightest touch of mustiness are difficult to place except at prices in favour of buyers. There are very few coining forward, hut meantime sufficient for reqniivments. We quote prime feed and milling, la (i.jjd to Is 7A.1 ; medium, Is 5d to Is Gi ; inferior, Is Id to Is 4_d (ex store, sacks extra, net; Jd more per bushel, f.0.b., Dunedin).— Barley: There are no stocks of any consequence still to be disposed of, and buyers are indifferent about purchasing even when any is offering. Quotations nominal—say for best malting, 2s 9d to 3s ; modinm,2sGd to 2s 3d ; feed and milling.2s 3d to 2s Gd (ex store, sacks extra.) j —Grass Seeds : There is no improvement to note in the tone of the market for ryegrass seed. There are buyers on the spot ready and willing to operate but growers find it somewhat difficult to submit to the prices now offering when compared with those obtaining at the same tnnu last season. The quantity for disposal is pretty considerable, but there is very little progress being made with the placing of many of the numerous lots offering. Buyers offer for farmers' undressed Is 91 to2s6d ; for machine dressed, 3s to 3s 6d (ex storo, sacks extr.*)—The demand for cocksfoot has hardly set in yet; quotation nominal. — Potatoes : The market fluctuates somewhat, and often Taries from one end of the week to the other. An odd truck or two coming to hand over the quantity actually required immediately weakens the market owing to the limited consumption. Quotations are much about the same as last week—viz., for nest, newly dug, 45s to 50s ; others, 25s to 40s per ton (sacks weighed in).— Dairy Produce: Butter Dairy made, in Poni's boxes, Od to 7d ; factory made, 10J to lid per lb. Factory made cheese, medium size, 41 to 4._ d ; loaf shape, 4_d tn4_d per lb ; demand weak.
