R.M. COURT, HAMILTON.

Yesterday. — (Before Captain Jackson, R.M.) Prohibition' Order.—Constable Murray applied for a prohibition order against John Deegan in the Borough of Hamilton.—Tho application was granted. Picturesque Atlases : Boworman Bras, v. Geo. W. Greaves. Claim £10 10s for atlases supplied. Messrs W. M. Hay and R. W. Dyer appeared for the plaintiffs. Defendant admitted the claim, and judgment was given for the amount claimed and costs, to be paid at the rate of 10s per week. Same v. Johs Bbttlky. Claim £9 10s fov atlases. Messrs W. M. Hay and R. W. Dyer appeared for the plaintiffs. Defendant admitted his liability for £3 only, 30s of which had been paid. He said he had only contracted to take twelve parts, at 5s each, and ha had paid for six, which had been delivered. He also deniod having signed an order for mora than twelve copies.—Evidence was given by Messrs Bowerman, Romley and Hanson that no order fjrms had been made for twelve numbers, and also that no contract had been made with the defendant for less than the 42 volumes, which was the complete work.—Mr Brodie, of the Bank of New Zealand, gave evidence as to the signatures on the list of patrons, and on the contract note, stating that had cheques come in with similar signatures on them he would not have cashed them on his own responsibility.—At this stage the court adjourned till this morning, at 10 o'clock.
