ALLEGED CONSPIRACY.
(BY TELEGRAPH.— OWN CORRESPONDENT) Auckland, Last Night. The conspiracy case came Jp for hearing before Mr H. Eyre Konny, R.M. to-day. J.ihn Blair White, sheep farmer, and Alfred Frederick Fitzroy Etheridge, receiver of Land Revenues, were charged that they did at Auckland on Ist October. 1889, unlawfully, knowingly, fraudulently. and deceitfully conspire and agree together to obtain mid acquire to themselves by diverse aim Fiibtle moans and devices of and from Ht>r M ijesty the Queen, a sum of money, to wit, £103 3* 7d with intent to che:it ami defraud. Mr Button, who appeared on behalf of the prosecution said he wan not ready to go on and therefore he applied for an adjournment until this day week. Mr The". C'oper, who appeared for Hon. J. B. Whyto instructed by Messrs Hosketh and Richmond, said he had no objection to offar to the adjournment. Ho had arranged with his friend that Mr Whyte's own recognisances for £100 should be tikon. Mr Ma-honey, who appeared on behalf of Mr Etheridge, said ho bad no objection to ofler to the adjournment. His Worship adjourned the hearing of the case until 14th March at 11 o'clock, Mr Whyte's own recognisances being accepted for the sum mentioned.
