FEDERATION.
(by electkic telkokapii.—copyright.)
Sydney, March 1. In the Assembly to-night Sir 11. Pnrkcs moved the adjournment of the House, in order to draw attention to the present state of the Federation question. Sir Henry said he intended to show ho was not responsible for the delay; also that the course proposed by the present Government was not conducive to a speedly consummation of Australian unity, and lastly, to indicate what steps should be taken to bring Federation to a successful issue. March 2. Eeferring to the Federation question in the Assembly last night, Sir Honry Parlies, after dealing with the history of the Federation movement, said he thought that under the present Ministerial programme it was unlikely the subject would be discussed this year. The next stop should be taken by the people, who should elect a new Convention te revise the draft Bill, or frame a new one if it was thought necessary. At this stage the speech was stopped, owing to the. limit allowed for speaking to the adjournment of the House having been reached. With one exception members were willing to let Sir Henry proceed, but the one objection was fatal.
