INTERPROVINCIAL.
[by TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. : It is estimated that during the last two 1 months from 700 to 800 stud rams have been drafted to the North Island. The demand will probably be brisk at the coming ram fair. The last wool sale ot the season was held to-day, when 3,500 bales were catalogued. Bidding was not brisk, and there was no advance in prices. The Inspector of Factories for the Christchurcb, Ashburton and Waimate districts has registered 202 premises, mostly in the city of Christchurch, as factories. Forty applications have been referred back for various reasons, and there are about 100 premises in the three districts for which applications have not yet been made. The inspection of the premises in the main so far shows as a general rule, an improvement in cleanliness and ventilation. DUNEDIN, Last Night. A meeting of the Protection League has carried a resolution that in the nomination of members for the Upper House, the Government should be careful only to seleot men who in the past have served the public in some capacity. If the Government intend to consult the labour party concerning these appointments then the Trades and Labour Council in Dnnediu is the only body for this district which should be especially communicated with, as the Council represents the various organised unions in Dunedin.
