A NEW PAPER.
PURCHASE OF THE N.Z. TIMES. (Bl' telegraph—press association.) Wellington, Last Night. The promoters of the new paper are negotiating with Captain Baldwin for the purchase of the N.Z. Times. It is understood that satisfactory terms have bean arranged, and the purchase is likely to be concluded within a diy or two. Captain Baldwin is retiring from the newspaper business on account of ill-health. A considerable amount of capital has been subscribed for the purpose, one gontleman in Dunedin having put in £1000. Later. The sale of the N.Z. Times was concluded this evening, the price beine £4500, exclusive of book debts. About £7000 has been subscribed so far, of which Sir W. Buller provides £2000. No difficulty is anticipated by the promoters in obtaining all the capital needed.
