The programme did not begin till 3 p.m., on ac count of the threatening weather. Showers fell during the forenoon, and the course win very heavy. Bain (Dunedin) 3 Cucks held the lead to the List lap, when Burton passed him, and a grand finish took place, Cocks winning, amid great excitement, by three yards. Time, 23nin. 1G 2-sths sees., which beats the New Zealand record. The raca was the best ever seen in the colony. One Mile Safety Bicycle Championship Wilmott (Canterbury) 1 Kerr (New South Wales) ... 2 Clarkson (Canterbury) 3 Rollingshain and Langdon also started.
