Pahiatua, Last Night. John Summerfikld, a sawmill hand, was found drowned in a bucket of water, this morning. He had been drinking heavily for the last few days, ond had evidently gone to the bucket for a drink. Christchurch, Last Night. Yesterday afternaon, the body of a man who shot himself, was found at Boag's Farm, Fendalton. There was a revolver by his side, with two chambers discharged. Deceased had a pawn ticket and a ticket from Lyttelton to Wellington bearing the name of H. E. Horton. He appears about 43 years of age. The evidence at the inqusst showed deceased to be a patternmaker not long from Home, and who had been unable to obtain employment. Enoch Barter, a gardnev, sixty-two years old, residing at New Brighton, was found drowned in tho River Avon, close to his house, and his hat and stick ware found oil the bank. Deceased was in the habit of getting up and going out about five o'clock, and it is supposed ho slipped into the water accidentally as nothing is known to make suicide probable. Bulls, Last Night. Mr Thomas Scott, the oldest settler in the Kangitikei District, died on Saturday. TiMAIIU, List Night. Mr Bowles, an inn keeper, at Teimiku, trying to navigate a canoo mi the Opihi lagoon yesterday, was capsized and drowned.
