Hunter IIKi'OHTS:—At Ohnnpn on Tuesday, January sth, on account of holiihys not so many cattle yarded as usual, those in sold high, and I have a doniand for steers of any class which can br> placed at satisfactory prices at my sale hero on 19tb inst. Steer calves made from 2'is to 255; yearling steers, £2 to £2 7s ; two and a-lialf year-old steers, £2 10* to £3 (is; store cows and heifers, £2 to £3; fat cows and heifers, £3 to £1 15s ; No grown steers yarded. At Hamilton, on Thursday, January 7th, the yards were well filled. A luge number of fat stock changed hands at very satisfactory prices, good heifers making'from £3 10$ to ,£5 18s ; fat cows, £3 12s (11 to £G4s; store cows and heifers, £2 to £2 153; one and a-half to two and a-half year old steers, £2 10s to £3 10s ; fat ewes, lis; ewe hogget ts, lis; hacks from £4 to £10 10s ; draughts, from £8 10s to £15 10s. AUCKLAND LIVE STOCK MAR KETS. Messrs A. Bucklano and Sons' Weekly Report.— At tho Haymarket during the past week the sales have been small; hay at 2s 9d the cwt. and straw from losto 21s the lord ; new potatoes, £G (is per ton; maize, Is lid and 2s; oats, 2s Id and 2s 2d. The horse sale on Friday was fully supplied. The spring-cart horses advertised by Mr Murray brought from £9 5s to £23 each, or an average of £15, and the harness from £1 to £2 5s the set. Most of the horses were sold at an advance on prices ruling before the holidays. At the hide and skin sale on Tuesday the ox hides, which were light, s ild from 2Si\ to 3Jd ; extra stout up to 5Jd; cows, lAd to 2Jd ; calfskins, 4d to 5;/d per lb : tallow, 10s (id to 17s per cwt: sheepskins, 2s to 3s 2d ; lambs. Is Id to Is lOd; pelts, lOd fo Is lOd each. At Waiuku sale, on Saturday, there was a full muster of cUtle, and the prices obtained similar to those ruling at Remuera. At the Remuera yards on Thursday store cattle were in demand at lata values. Dairy cows near calving or in full milk were better woitlt-; prices ranged from £4 15s to £0 10s each. Fat cattle plentiful, and many withdrawn ; prices irregular. Steers ranged from 17s to 19s ; cows, 12s to 15s the 1001b ; 228 sold. Sheep and lambs yarded in full numbers; 1418 sold; last week's values fully sust lined. Fat wethers ranged from 13s 6d to lGsOd ; ewes, lis ild to 18s 9d ; aged store ewes, 4s 6d to Us ; store two-tooth wethers, 8s 3d to 12s 6d ; lambs, in full number, 302 sold, kept late values; well-fatted lambs brought from 6s to 13s 6d; inferior, from 6s to 8s Gd each ; pigs, in limited supply, were at late values.
Messrs Hcntkr and Nolan's Report.— Grain, seed*, hor3e feed, &c.: The supply has been ample and moderate demand, with little or no fluctuation in value. We quote: Oats, 28 to 2s 3d per bushel ; maizo. Is lid to 2-1 2d per bushel; bran, £4 per ton ; chaff, £2 12s Gd. Horses : A good many have been brought forward, and a brisk demand has existed for those of a really pood stamp. Kither a large number was submitted by suction on Friday at the Durham Yards; bidding was brisk throughout, and particularly so for useful burses. We quote hacks at from £4 10a to £11 5s ; light harness and medium draught, from £5 15s to £11 10s ; unbroken stock suitable for saddle and harness sold at from £512 ato £12 10s. Wool, hides, skins, &c : Above average quantities woro pitched at the Durham Yards on Tuesday, but there was an absence of really stout heavy ox hides. Wo quote : Stout ox, 4d to •lid per lb ; light to medium, 2}d to ; co'v, lgd to 2|d ; calfskins, 3Jd to Sid per lb ; sheepskins, 2s 3d to 3s 8d each, pelts.ls to Is 3d ; lambskins, Is 3d to Is 8d each ; tallow. 17s per owt; bones, £415s to £5 per ton. Cattle have been brought forward in increased numbers ; the demand has been steady for all descriptions, without at y material alteration in value ; average numbers were disposed of by auction at Newmarket on Tuesday and Pukekohe on Wednesday. Fat beasts barely maintained the ■previous week's values, ranging from 17s to l'Js per 1001b. Some averages of fat steers were £8 17s Gd, £7 2s, £(i 19s, £G 15s, £517s 4d, £5 5s ; cows, £4 17s Gd, £4155, £4 12s GJ, £310*, £3 ss. Sheep were penned in limited numbers at Newmarket on Tuesday, and worn keenly competed for ; wethers sold at from 13s to lGs M ; ewes, 9-i to 12s ; lambs, 7s to lis !)J. Pigs continue scarce and in demand at from 21 to 2JJ per lb live weight.
