Donkois DecomborSl.— Grain.— Wheat: During the past week the market lias been quiet, the Christmas holidays having to n groat extent interrupted business. The demand at thb moment is only for extra prime milling velvet; other sorts are neglected, with the exception of inferior, which is in very gond request for fowls' food, and for this purpose a much larger quantity could bedispoeed (if if prices were slightly lower. Ont-ide of tlia quantity held by miller* tha market ia quite bare, hardly nny being held mi *t iratfe ; and with a aligiit improvement in the demand for flour, there would hardly be sufficient for requirement. A few ealee are being effected, both for shipment and local requirements ; but on the whole the market may be considered quint, and until after the holidays there will be very little doing in the way of sales. Stocks being now reduced to n minimum, and with hardly any coming forward, holders are not proving sales; nt the same time it is eomewhat doubtful as to whether the market will improve further on. Meantime we give last week's quotation, say, for best milling, Isß|d to Is B£d ; best short bright feed, Is 8d to Is B.|d ; medium to (food, Is 7d to Is 7?d ; inferior, l 8 4dtols6|d (ex ntcre , , sacks extra, net cash ; 3d per bushel f>. b.—Dairy Produce : The derrand for salt butter is not sufficiently active to prevent stocks from increasing, being confined to requirements fur local consumption only. In consequence late rates are with difficulty maintained, which were—for best dairy, Gd to 7d ; factory, 10d to IOJd per lb. Cheese ha 3 a moderate demand at—for oiedium size factory-made, 4d to 4Jd ; loaf shape, 4Jd to 3d per lb.—Flux Wβ have no difficulty in placing fino well dressed bright fibre at full rates, but medium and inferior is in less demand and difttcult to place, except at a reduction.
